Meet the Doctor

Marcelo Hochman,MD understands that facial and migraine pain can make life unbearable. His treatment options are more than just a science. They require skill, patience and an appreciation for the suffering of his patients. His interest in the field of migraine relief comes from his personal experience with family members who suffer from chronic migraines.

Dr. Hochman is double-board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Head and Neck Surgery and limits his practice to the face/head and neck. He served as Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina for ten years prior to going into private practice. He is a member of the American Headache Society, The National Headache Foundation and is a featured doctor in the American Registry of Migraine Surgeons. His private facial plastic surgery practice is The Facial Surgery Center. His newest practice is The Hair Loss Treatment Center where he excels in hair restoration for women and men. He is the founder and Medical Director of The Hemangioma Treatment Foundation and the Hemangioma International Treatment Center all located in Charleston, SC.  Through these practices he sees patients from all over the world.

Giving Back

Through his Hemangioma Treatment Foundation and Hemangioma Treatment Center he created in 2003, Dr. Hochman has been deeply involved in giving back to hundreds of children from the U.S. and around the world, transforming their lives by treating the facial differences caused by these vascular tumors and malformations. He has taken facial plastic and reconstructive neck surgery to a much higher level than his plastic surgery peers through the procedures needed to correct these problems.

Awards

In 2005 Dr. Hochman was presented with the coveted Order of the Palmetto which was established by Gov. John West in 1970 as a way the Governor of the state could distinguish individual citizens for outstanding service or friends to the state. It is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual, and is given solely at the discretion of the Governor. Then in 2008 the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), the world’s largest association of doctors in this field, presented to Dr. Hochman the AAFPRS Community Service Award which is bestowed each year to the doctor who has distinguished him/herself by “making possible free medical service to the poor in his community.” In 2016 Dr. Hochman was chosen for the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Health Care Heroes Award for the Physician of the Year. The Business Journal and the community “honor people and organizations that have a passion for health care and a compassion for the patients–they go beyond the call of duty for their communities and professions.” Please visit the websites listed above and see the magnitude of his work.

Consequently, he has performed more endoscopic procedures for facial rejuvenation and migraines than any surgeon in South Carolina. These migraine surgeries offer a great integration of his cosmetic skills, vast reconstructive experience and the ability to perform highly technical surgery through small hidden incisions.
